Internship Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in joining our team as an intern. Interning with our agency offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful and rewarding change in your community. Circle of Hope accepts intern applications all year long, provided there are still openings available.
As an intern, you will:​

develop an understanding of domestic violence and its impact on your community

help survivors of domestic violence address safety concerns

be connected to an outstanding team of passionate and dedicated professionals, who are on the front line working to end domestic violence

Training
Interns begin their training with our Domestic Violence Training class. Following the class, interns are exposed to several of the agency's primary programs: the emergency shelter program, 24-hour crisis intervention via hotline, the children’s program, the legal advocacy program, the violence prevention program, and our supportive housing programs.
Program Descriptions
Interns will be exposed to all the programs offered by Circle of Hope. Below is a general description of what activities interns will learn in each program.
24 Hour Hotline
Safety planning, crisis intervention, building rapport, knowledge of crisis call policies and procedures, scheduling appointments, questions to ask, knowledge of community referrals, data entry into statistical program.
Children's Program
Planning and facilitating family activities, learning dynamics of child abuse, assisting with children’s support groups, child advocacy, tutoring, child care, data entry into statistical program.
Legal Advocacy Program
Attending protective order hearings with victims, exposure to intake system, understanding of Temporary Protective and Stalking Orders, understanding of Victim’s Compensation Program and assisting victim file claims, knowledge of community referrals, data entry into statistical program
Emergency Shelter Program
Exposure to intake system and case management, knowledge of shelter policies and procedures, advocacy, knowledge of community referrals, participation in life skills classes, client file organization and documentation, client transportation, data entry into statistical program.
School Prevention Program
Creating and leading violence prevention lessons to youth, communicating with counselors and teachers to schedule presentations, knowledge of classroom organization and behavior management when working with youth in schools.
Supportive Housing Program
Attending protective order hearings with victims, exposure to intake system, understanding of Temporary Protective and Stalking Orders, understanding of Victim’s Compensation Program and assisting victim file claims, knowledge of community referrals, data entry into statistical program
Community Awareness Program
Represent agency at community events and festivals, promote and assist with fundraising and awareness initiatives, participate in judicial task force against domestic violence, distribute agency information, assist with development of quarterly newsletters.
