Position Title: Domestic Violence Victim Advocate
Position Summary:
This is a full-time position with the primary responsibility of providing advocacy and comprehensive support services to non-residential program participants in a multi-county service area. The advocate will work with the program participant from the initial point of contact on crisis intervention, domestic violence education, legal advocacy, financial assistance, and specific goals to address the physical and emotional safety of the victim. Salary and position continuance are dependent upon grant allocations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Collaborate with victims to determine safe meeting locations.

Deliver legal advocacy, including assistance with protective orders and victim’s compensation.

Maintain confidential case management and assess needs across legal, housing, employment, medical, and safety areas.

Conduct intake interviews and needs assessments for non-residential victims.

Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and options counseling.

Educate participants on domestic violence, safety planning, and legal processes.

Coordinate services and referrals with agency services, law enforcement and community agencies.

Build and maintain relationships with service providers and community partners.

Arrange and provide transportation as needed.

Act as liaison between victims and community service providers.

Keep updated resource lists and accurate program data; report as required.
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of three years’ experience in social service delivery, with expertise in domestic violence dynamics, victim-centered services, and related legal issues.

Experience working within legal or court systems, including supporting clients through legal processes and procedures.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet client needs.
-
Ability to travel within the tri-county service area.

Demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, parenting education, problem-solving, advocacy, and community resources.

Skill in utilizing an empowerment philosophy, maintaining a nonjudgmental approach, and working effectively with diverse populations.

Strong organizational abilities, along with excellent written, oral, and computer communication skills.
