Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event 2012
You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes. That's why we are asking YOU to put on high heels and join us in a Walk Against Domestic Violence.
The Family Violence Task Force of the Mountain
Judicial Circuit is "pumped" to announce a new event this fall that is sure to
have everyone talking. As a part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the
first "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" is scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2012, in
downtown Cornelia. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the walk will
start at 10:00 a.m. from the Post Office and ending at the historic train
depot. Admission is free and open to the public.
"We are excited about our first 'Walk A Mile
in Her Shoes' event and thankful to Heather Sinyard and the Cornelia Better
Hometown for letting us hold it in conjunction with the Big Red Apple Festival.
There are already several prominent men from our community who will be
joining us that day! I don't think anyone wants to miss this," says
Stephanie Tolbert, Circle of Hope's Associate Director.
Men are
encouraged to participate in the walk by wearing a pair of women's shoes.
However, the walk is also open to women and children as well.
Online
registration is closed but you can still show up and register onsite at the
event.
